Condolences to our classmate Louise Bell Townsend and her family for the loss of her mother, Ada Jean Bell Fontenot. Mrs. Fontenot passed away this past Wednesday. From the Port Arthur News http://www.legacy.com/panews/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=128964501 Ada Jean Bell Fontenot, 73, of Groves passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont with her loving family at her side. Jean was born on October 30, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to Enola Degeyter Broussard and Telesphore Broussard. She had lived in the Port Arthur area all of her life and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur; the Cajun French Music Association and she volunteered at the Port Neches Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Bell, Louise Townsend and her husband Don and Patty Duran all of San Angelo; sons, Bryan Bell and his wife Tammy of Arroyo Grande, California, Darren Bell and his wife Tanya of Port Arthur and Jeffrey Bell of Groves; step-sons, Richard Fontenot and his wife Kathy of Nederland and Sidney Fontenot of Beaumont; brothers, Ronald Broussard and his wife Sharon of Nederland and Tracy Broussard of Houston; sisters-in-laws, Agnes Landry of Groves, Annie Ruth Faulk of Port Arthur and Lovey Baron of Nederland; brother-in-law, Dale Fontenot of Groves; eleven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two great granddaughters and two great step-grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her first husband of thirty-five years, Willie Bell; her second husband of eight years, Gilbert Fontenot; parents, Enola and Telesphore Broussard; brothers, Howard and Leroy Broussard; son-in-law, Richard Duran. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Father Stephen McCrate serving as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Grammier- Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers "Memorial Contributions" can be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Awareness at P. O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
